What is Momento NFC Technology?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a technology that allows for communication between two objects or devices via transfer of data, text, or numbers. Mobile phones are common users of NFC technology today. One of the core components of NFC is an NFC tag which contains a small chip and antenna and stores some form of data that is programmed (written) on to the tag. Commonly these tags are stickers that adhere to an object, or can be directly embedded in a product such as a bracelet, mobile phone, key fob, or pretty much any other object.

Once an object is tagged, a user can utilize a device that has an NFC reader (commonly a smart phone), to access the data on the tag when the reader is tapped against the tag. For instance, the Momento Pearl is a pearl necklace that contains an NFC tag. That tag can be pre-programmed with a message, a URL, or other data that a user can access when they tap the pearl against their iphone/adroid phone and utilize the NFC reader app. Historically, NFC was limited by a user’s ability to read/access content via NFC, but was unable to “write” or change the content tagged on the NFC tag with their phone. Today, with the patented technology NFC United has created, users can not only read NFC tags but also write them via their iPhone via iOS 11 or newer.

How do we manufacture NFC jewelry?
Galatea will train you on how to manufacture using our patented process. If you can set a stone, then you can set an NFC chip. You will, however, have to redesign your jewelry to fit the NFC chip.

What about ring sizing and soldering?
Size an NFC ring the same way you would size an emerald or opal ring: You must avoid excessive heat over 200°F.

You can use water to protect the setting when sizing the ring. Use of a laser is preferred if at all possible

Can I use rhodium, gold or any kind of plating on NFC Jewelry?
You can plate the metal used in NFC jewelry the same way you would with other jewelry.

Will all the steps needed to manufacture the jewelry have any impact on the chip or its durability?
Just think of our NFC tag as a gem. The jewelry needs no special treatment or concern other than heat. Remember that when you work with NFC jewelry, if the process is hotter than 200°F, it is best to avoid it.

Is there a test that manufacturers should do after they finish job to make sure the chip still works?
Yes, you must use your phone to make sure you can read the jewelry before you ship it to your customer.

How is NFC United Unique?
The NFC United App and Galatea jewelry App are the only apps that give you the ability to write on an NFC chip with iOS 11 or iPhone 7 and newer. It is protected by 7 U.S. and International Patents.

What is required to write to the NFC tag?
In order to write to an NFC with iOS, the NFC tag must be activated by Momento Technology.

What model phones are compatible with this technology?
iPhone 7 or newer ( iOS 11) and all Android NFC-enabled phones are compatible. You can find this out by going into your settings and turning on NFC. NFC is the same technology used for Apple pay and Google pay.

How long will the NFC last?
Regular NFC lasts a few years. Momento NFC technology uses the finest chip and hardware and is designed to last 50 years.

Why is most NFC jewelry that I see online made from plastic or ceramic, not fine jewelry or precious metal?
Good question. Radio frequency signals can only transmit through non-conductive material. This is why your wireless phone cannot work under a metal housing. Scientists call this a Faraday's cages. However, Momento NFC technolgy is the first and only company in the history of NFC that performs in a metal design. I'd have to kill you if I tell you how! Just kidding, you can learn more in our patents.

What make Momento NFC technology different from other NFC in the market?
Most NFC in the pass is designed only to trigger and take you to a place with limited data. Momento NFC technology is cloud base and interactive and unlined amount of Data. Momento NFC allow you to share datas, and interact with multiple users. your info is stored in the chip, in the phone and on the cloud for safe keeping.

Does users need an Internet connection when storing their info on an NFC tag?
Yes, you do need internet to save and share messages if this is a new message. You don't need internet if the message was previous saved in your phone. However, it will record and store your important recording locally on your phone until network is available again, then you can save it back in your gem and save it on the cloud.

We know the memory of NFC is very small? Do users store their info in the NFC tag or cloud?
We save it in the NFC chip to a limited data allowed, in your phone and on the cloud in unlimited data. The NFC chip stores limited data. Your phone and cloud provide unlimited data.

Simply just think of our Momento NFC as your USB key and a Dropbox. It is new medium that is a hardware and a cloud-based technology in one.

Do you have special SDK for other developers if your NFC have your own storage?
Yes we offer our source code with a signed licensing agreement.

Does a user has to sign in first or can anybody read the tag directly?
No, users don't need an app to read the tag but do need to sign in if they wish to save or share a recording. It the only way we can identify ownership of the messages. With Android, a new user just touches the NFC to the phone and it will download the app instantly. This also work with with iOS 12.

Momento App also gives you a safety function which allows you to offer a message to the other users to tap to your NFC or you can lock it off and no one can access your NFC to protect your important info.

How about the sensitivity of your NFC tag? How far does it need to be to read the tag?
It should be 5mm to 25mm from your phone.

What do we need to do extra except purchasing your stone if we use our own app?
You have the right to use your own app but you must license our patents in order to use our IP and source code or process.

What kind of info can people read from your NFC tag? Is it only UID between NFC tag and mobile phone?
People can read and write with iPhone 7 and newer and most of Android NFC-enabled phone. People can read and write audio, text, links, videos and photos.

What do most customers save with Momento NFC jewelry?
